United Way of Jamaica responds to support the Jamaica Constabulary Force during Covid 19 Pandemic

During this Covid -19  pandemic, the United Way of Jamaica (UWJ) is concerned about the health and well-being of all individuals especially our frontline workers who are working assiduously to ensure the safety and protection of all Jamaicans against this deadly virus.

As such the UWJ has pledged $2.5Million to assist with the purchase of protective gears for members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). UWJ’s Chairperson Dr. Marcia Forbes made the announcement during the Covid 19 Telethon, Jamaica ‘Together we stand’ on Sunday April 12, 2020.

The UWJ has maintained a long standing partnership with the men and women of The JCF for over 30 years. The JCF has been the largest group of participants within the UWJ’s Workplace Philanthropy Programme.  Over 7000 members currently contribute an average of $200 on a monthly basis to support the work of the UWJ. The JCF has also been recognized as the “Most Outstanding Workplace Giving Organization” for 10 years.

The contributions from the Jamaica Constabulary Force members combined with those from other organizations and individuals have benefitted programmes within the inner cities such as Early Childhood, Youth Development and Skills Training.

The United Way of Jamaica is a non- profit charitable organization and an affiliate of United Way Worldwide, now celebrating its 35th Anniversary. The mission of the organization is to mobilize resources to transform lives throughout Jamaica
